More than 40 participants attended the forum, including the Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General in New York, as well as representatives from the government, public investment institutions, securities companies, banks, and insurance companies in charge of investments.
Ronald Temple, Chief Market Strategist at Lazard Asset Management and the keynote speaker, presented on the theme "Global Economic and Market Outlook," assessing the economic conditions and financial markets of key countries and sharing investment strategies.
Chief Market Strategist Temple noted, "Key variables in the global financial market going forward will include the potential further weakening of the US dollar, widening yield spreads between long- and short-term government bonds in developed markets, and relatively improved performance of equities outside the United States." He also pointed out, "Especially, the large US fiscal deficit and increased fiscal spending in major countries may apply upward pressure on interest rates over the medium to long term."
He projected that the US economy would maintain robust growth based on investment related to artificial intelligence (AI), but also cautioned that high inflation and a substantial fiscal deficit could serve as burdens. For Europe, he identified energy prices and shifts in fiscal policy as critical variables; for China, he cited sluggishness in the real estate market and the question of domestic demand recovery; and for Japan, he pointed to rising prices and wages, as well as corporate governance reform, as factors likely to determine future market flows.
Kim Yulyoung, Head of the KIC New York Office, said, "The global economy and financial markets are changing at an accelerating pace, and investment opportunities by region and asset class are becoming increasingly diverse. I hope this event provides domestic institutional investors with valuable insight, enabling them to proactively understand changes in the global investment landscape and diversify their portfolios."
