Polaris AI Handy Successfully Concludes First Internal Hackathon after Name Change: "Driving AI Transformation from Within"
Polaris AI Handy is accelerating the internal adoption of AI Transformation (AX) following its recent company name change. The company has established a strategy to build an AI-centric work culture through internal hackathons, during which employees leverage artificial intelligence to solve work-related problems themselves and implement these solutions as actual services.
On August 27, Polaris AI Handy announced that it had hosted an internal hackathon for all employees to discover AI-powered work innovation ideas and develop them into actual service applications.
This event marked the first internal hackathon since the company changed its name to 'Polaris AI Handy'. Rather than merely introducing AI technology into work, the focus was on empowering employees to identify and solve operational improvement tasks themselves, thereby enhancing organizational AX capabilities throughout the company.
The hackathon took place over two stages, lasting about five to six weeks from proposal submission to final evaluation. Participants identified inefficiencies and repetitive tasks in their day-to-day work—targeting new groupware features, automation of work processes, or free topics—and proposed AI-driven solutions.
Notably, the hackathon went beyond simple idea generation and employed a practical, hands-on approach in which teams produced deliverables that could be applied to actual work. Even employees without development experience utilized AI-based ‘vibe coding’ to bring ideas to life as services, with developers and non-developers forming teams to verify real-world applicability.
Through this process, employees gained experience using AI not simply as a supplementary work tool but as a means of defining problems and creating solutions—a catalyst for work innovation, according to company officials.
Polaris AI Handy plans to expand this event from a one-time occurrence to a regular quarterly program. The company aims to continuously identify needed features and ideas from daily operations and verify the effectiveness of outstanding deliverables by applying them to internal work systems.
Ideas proven to have business potential will also be incorporated into existing groupware and AX services. By integrating field-driven requirements unearthed by employees themselves into product development, the company intends to accelerate the advancement of both groupware and AI-enabled work services.
The company also seeks to establish a virtuous cycle that connects internal work innovation with external business expansion. Polaris AI Handy will build an AI-enabled work environment in-house first and then extend technologies and services, proven in real-world scenarios, to its clients’ AX projects.
A representative from Polaris AI Handy stated, “If the name change is a starting point for a new direction, this hackathon is significant because it marks the beginning of employees driving that change themselves. Not only developers but also non-developers and frontline staff confirmed the potential of AI and vibe coding to deliver services needed for daily operations across the organization.”
They added, “We will regularize the hackathon to continuously uncover new ideas and implement outstanding results in our internal operations. Verified deliverables will also be incorporated into our groupware and AX products to enhance product competitiveness and create new business opportunities.”
