Rokit Healthcare Launches Artificial Skin Fabrication Kit and Files Patent for Efficacy Prediction Technology
Applicable to Individual and Ethnic-Specific Skin Cells
Supply of Full-Thickness Artificial Skin Research Platform
Quantitative Analysis of Skin Efficacy through Integration of Active Ingredient Penetration and Biomarkers
Organ regeneration platform company Rokit Healthcare is launching a full-thickness artificial skin fabrication kit and research platform, aiming to penetrate the skin substitute testing market.
On August 27, Rokit Healthcare announced that it will supply a full-thickness artificial skin research platform that implements epidermis, dermis, and basement membrane structures, as well as the "EPITEM-2 Creator Kit," allowing researchers to directly apply individual or ethnic skin cells. The kit is scheduled for official release in October.
The EPITEM-2 Creator Kit consists of a 3D bioprinter, bioink, standard media, and a production manual. It is designed so that research institutions and companies can use skin cells appropriate for their research objectives to create artificial skin models that reflect specific skin characteristics.
Existing commercially available artificial skin models are typically built using skin cells from a specific ethnicity, limiting their ability to reflect diverse skin types. Rokit Healthcare plans to support cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and biotech companies in evaluating skin efficacy and researching candidate substances through models that can accommodate individual and ethnic skin characteristics.
Rokit Healthcare will also offer the ready-to-use "EPITEM-2 FT" product. This full-thickness artificial skin model, which recreates epidermal differentiation, dermal extracellular matrix (ECM), and basement membrane, can be used for standardized screening without the need for an additional fabrication process.
Rokit Healthcare has also applied for a patent on technology that analyzes the depth, speed, area, and layer-specific distribution of active ingredient penetration, as well as cellular aging and collagen-related biomarker responses. The key advantage is the ability to quantitatively predict skin efficacy by analyzing both penetration characteristics of ingredients and their biological responses—which traditionally were evaluated separately—within a single data structure.

Rokit Healthcare plans to expand its business areas to include skin efficacy evaluation, candidate substance screening, and data analysis services based on its artificial skin platform. A company representative said, "We aim to provide a research environment where researchers can directly produce artificial skin models that reflect diverse skin characteristics and quantitatively analyze the penetration and biological responses of candidate substances."
