The event was attended by Jun Ho Yoon, Head of Purchasing Strategy Business Division at Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation, Byung Chan Lee, president of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, and representatives from major partner companies.
The GPC is the largest training facility in Korea dedicated exclusively to Hyundai Motor Group partners, established in Gyeongju to support partners' future competitiveness and shared growth. Leveraging advanced educational infrastructure, the center provides tailored, free training programs for partner employees covering quality, technology, and global competency.
The "AI Specialized Joint Training Center" serves as a systematic AI transformation (AX) support platform to deliver quality-, process-, and data-based, field-oriented customized AI education, and to assist suppliers focused on internal combustion engine components in successfully transitioning into high value-added, AI- and data-driven future automotive parts companies.
This center represents a leading public-private partnership win-win model, combining Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation's cutting-edge educational infrastructure, supplier network, professional training expertise, and the government’s policy support.
This year, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation plan to launch specialized AI practical training for about 900 employees of first- and second-tier parts suppliers as a priority. Starting next year, the company will significantly expand the number of trainees and supported partners annually, accelerating AX throughout the entire parts supply chain.
The AI Specialized Joint Training Center is designed to focus on workplace applicability, moving beyond simple theoretical teaching. Its structured operation includes: ▲ diagnosing suppliers’ AI readiness and competency levels ▲ delivering customized, step-by-step AI training by job function ▲ hands-on problem-solving (PBL) using suppliers’ own factory defect data ▲ and activities to promote an AX culture (such as forums and seminars).
Key training programs include: "Generative AI Work," which automates the creation of work standards and quality documents; "AI Vision Inspection," which automates quality inspection in manufacturing sites and maximizes defect detection; and "Quality Risk Management" for big data analysis of processes and the prevention of risk factors.
Notably, the program is designed so that suppliers can directly develop quality improvement solutions through PBL tasks using their own real process data from their respective factories, ensuring that these efforts lead not only to a reduction in defect rates but also to productivity improvements.
In addition, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation plan to successfully establish AI education focused on quality-related job functions this year, and will expand AI training to other partner roles such as production, research and development (R&D), purchasing, and management, with the goal of taking the lead in building an AI-enabled win-win ecosystem across the entire future mobility industry.
