It was reported on August 26 that eight South Koreans went missing and ten others were stranded after flooding occurred in Nepal. The government plans to dispatch a rapid response team to the site as quickly as possible.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the morning of the same day (local time), flooding took place in the Rasuwa region of Nepal, leaving eight South Korean employees from Korea South-East Power and Doosan Enerbility, who were working on the construction of a hydroelectric power plant, unaccounted for. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Nepalese government has deployed a rescue team composed of army and police personnel to the affected area to conduct search and rescue operations.
In addition, another ten South Koreans, also employed by Doosan Enerbility, are stranded on site and are awaiting rescue. The Nepalese government has sent a helicopter to rescue them.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal immediately notified the Nepalese authorities about the eight missing South Koreans after learning of the incident, and requested rapid and proactive search and rescue operations. A consular officer from the embassy was urgently dispatched to the scene.

The government has established a Countermeasure Headquarters for the Protection of Overseas Korean Nationals, headed by Foreign Minister Cho Hyun. In accordance with President Lee Jae-myung's directive for an "all-out response," the government announced plans to send a joint rapid response team—comprised of personnel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Fire Agency, and the National Police Agency—to Nepal in the shortest possible time.
