SS spokesperson Nate Herring stated in a press release, "The Secret Service is aware of this video and investigates all matters that could be perceived as threats to protectees." He added, "For operational security reasons, we do not specifically comment on protection-related information."
The roughly three-minute video aired by IRIB begins with the English phrase, "Where should we kill Barron Trump?" The video alleges that Barron, who is 20 years old this year, is under surveillance, and claims there is a $10 million (about 13.8 billion won) bounty on his life for his assassination.
As the war that began about six months ago following an attack by the U.S. and Israel in February continues, tensions between the United States and Iran also persist. Iranian media have repeatedly aired content threatening President Trump and his family since the U.S. allegedly assassinated Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Earlier this month, there were also reports that the U.S. had received several warnings from Israel over the past year about the possible assassination of President Trump by Iran. It was also reported that Israel provided related warnings even before the 'aircraft switch' operation using Air Force One took place in Türkiye.
On July 8, President Trump secretly transferred to a military transport plane after completing the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in order to evade Iran's assassination threats. After appearing to board Air Force One, President Trump discreetly moved to the military plane destined for the United Kingdom using a catering container connected to a door on the opposite side of the aircraft.
