MOT Begins Full-Scale Mass Production of '46-Phi Cylindrical Battery Assembly Equipment'
MOT is set to begin full-scale mass production of core assembly equipment for next-generation 46-phi (diameter 46mm) cylindrical battery mass production lines.
According to MOT on August 26, shipment of eight types of core equipment covering the entire assembly process, including laser welding and forming, has begun. MOT has maximized equipment reliability and its clients’ mass production yield by applying its proprietary process technologies, such as precision laser welding and vertical appearance inspection, optimized for the tabless structure of 46-phi cylindrical batteries.
This equipment shipment is significant as MOT participated as an assembly equipment partner in the first mass production line investment for 46-phi cylindrical batteries, based on pre-development line cooperation with a major client. Previously, MOT has been continuously promoting the commercialization of next-generation battery assembly facility technologies for all-solid-state batteries, LFP batteries, and 46-phi cylindrical batteries. With this mass production shipment, the company plans to actively pursue additional orders in line with the global battery manufacturers' expansion of next-generation production lines.
