Samsung Display Supplies OLEDs for Genesis GV90, Delivering Future Mobility Experiences
24.6-Inch Pop-Up Cinematic Display
13.2-Inch Rear-Seat Monitors Supplied
Samsung Display is further solidifying its position in the premium automotive display market by supplying two types of advanced organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels for Genesis's first flagship full-size electric SUV, the GV90.
According to Samsung Display on August 26, the company has begun mass production and shipment this month of two OLED displays—a 24.6-inch and a 13.2-inch model—supplied for the Genesis GV90.

View original imageThe most striking technology is the 24.6-inch "variable (pop-up) cinematic display" installed in the center fascia between the driver's and passenger's seats. While driving, the display shows navigation and driving information at a size of 23.6 inches. After the vehicle is stopped, pressing a button lifts the screen 90 mm upward, expanding it into a wide 24.6-inch display—about 1.7 times larger than its original size.
OLED technology, which emits its own light, results in displays that are about 30% thinner and 70% lighter compared to liquid crystal displays (LCDs) that require a backlight behind the screen. Thanks to this structural advantage, engineers were able to efficiently design a complex mechanism for vertically moving the display, even within the limited cabin space of a vehicle.
This cinematic screen features an ultra-wide 24:9 aspect ratio and a high resolution of 3840x1440, as well as full support for DCI-P3—the standard color gamut for digital cinema. Additionally, the use of a 'tandem' structure, where the organic light-emitting layers are stacked in two layers, significantly increases the screen’s brightness (luminance) and lifespan, allowing it to remain vivid even in strong sunlight.
Furthermore, two 13.2-inch (1920x1080 resolution) OLED displays are installed on the rear sides of the front seat headrests for rear-seat passengers. These independent displays enable passengers in the back to enjoy high-definition movies or use the screens for work purposes, such as video conferencing.
Samsung Display's dedicated automotive brand philosophy, DRIVE™, which emphasizes differentiated design, reliability, intelligent safety, exceptional picture quality, and enriched experiences, has been applied to this product.
