Sungkwon Lee: "'PPP Vision Not for Jang Alone to Decide... Must Reflect the Hearts of Party Members and the Public'"
"We Need to Create a Platform to Gather Opinions Both Inside and Outside the Party"
Sungkwon Lee, a member of the People Power Party, said on August 25, "It is never something that Representative Jang (Donghyeok) alone should agonize over and decide which vision and values the People Power Party will establish to win the hearts of the people." He added, "Nor is it an event to be hastily announced to coincide with Representative Jang's first anniversary in office."
On his social media (SNS) account today, Representative Lee commented on Representative Jang's plan to announce party reform measures tomorrow. He said, "Even now, to ensure successful reform of the party, I urge the establishment of a platform to collect a wide range of opinions from both inside and outside the party, so that the reform of the People Power Party can truly reflect the will of its members and the public." He continued, "Only then can the People Power Party be reborn as a trustworthy ruling party."
Representative Lee also stated, "A political party must always engage in self-reform that meets the demands of the times and the will of the people," and added, "As we have seen from successful reform cases in the past, for reforms to succeed, their direction and content must resonate with public opinion. To achieve this, sufficient discussions and democratic processes of consultation are essential." He further pointed out, "Although we already announced reform measures last January, the reality is that the public still turns away from us."
