Koramco Expands Research and Strategy Divisions, Enhances Investment Analysis Capabilities
Koramco, a leading name in real estate asset management and trust services, has enhanced its global research capabilities and real asset analysis expertise, taking the professionalism of its investment strategies to a new level.
On August 25th, Koramco REITs Management & Trust and Koramco Asset Management announced that they will reorganize their research and strategy divisions in alignment with each company's business characteristics. Koramco Asset Management will leverage its existing research and strategy organization to connect capital markets, industries and companies, and overseas markets to its investment strategies. Meanwhile, Koramco REITs Management & Trust will strengthen its analysis and strategy functions focused on the real estate market.
The purpose of this organizational restructuring is to subdivide the research functions that the two companies have shared, tailoring them to the distinct investment areas of each company. Since first establishing its Research and Analysis Office in 2007—the first in the real estate asset management industry—Koramco has initiated market research and investment analysis work. After introducing sector specialization in 2024, these functions were transferred to its subsidiary, Koramco Asset Management. Through the latest restructure, Koramco Asset Management will reinforce its focus on the global inbound investment market, while Koramco REITs Management & Trust will strengthen its investment strategies centered on real estate assets. In particular, the company will analyze supply and demand in key real estate markets, rental and transaction markets, and capital flows, applying these insights broadly to REITs, trust, development, and asset management work.
First, Koramco Asset Management will concretize the role of its existing Research and Strategy Office (R&S Office) to be more focused on investment strategies. As its investment scope expands beyond real estate to include securities, companies, infrastructure, and overseas investments, the company plans to analyze macroeconomics, capital markets, industries and companies, and global investment landscapes, applying these findings to asset allocation, investment strategies, and new product development.
Seongmin Park will be recruited as head of the R&S Office. Park majored in finance at the University of Wisconsin, USA, and obtained his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He previously served as head of research at JLL Korea and as a research executive at JLL Asia-Pacific Capital Markets in Singapore, overseeing commercial real estate market analysis and investment consulting work. At JLL, Park analyzed market fundamentals, investment cycles, and relative values across major Asian countries and sectors, delivering investment strategies for global institutional investors and management firms. Before that, he managed domestic and international equities, bonds, and alternative investment assets at Kyobo Life Insurance, and more recently, has led real estate investments at a specialized asset management company.
Team leader Seungmo Koo will work with Director Park to lead the R&S team’s operational division, handling corporate and industry analysis and identifying new investment opportunities. Koo holds an MBA from Cornell University in the United States and has been recognized for his expertise through roles at Samil PwC and Lazard, a global financial advisory firm, where he worked in corporate analysis, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and investment review.
Koramco REITs Management & Trust will strengthen its research functions to encompass not only the real estate market but also the broader industrial environment. To this end, Hyojin Ji, who comes from the R&S Office of Mastern Investment Management and the Research Center of Samsung SRA Asset Management, has been recruited as a new team leader. Ji earned a doctorate in real estate studies from Sogang University Graduate School and has been responsible for analyzing domestic and overseas real estate markets as well as establishing investment strategies for institutional investors. Until recently at Mastern Investment Management, Ji led the development of real estate investment strategies that reflected macroeconomic factors and global capital flows.
Seunghoe Jeong, CEO of Koramco REITs Management & Trust, stated, "With the addition of professionals experienced not only in real estate but also global capital markets and diverse investment fields, I expect our perspective on the market and the scope of our investment strategies to broaden. We plan to leverage the research and strategy organization’s expertise by organically connecting each specialized field, discovering new investment opportunities, and materializing them through actual investments and new products."
