Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Secures Six-Month Exclusive Rights for Two New Coverages for Mothers and Viral Diseases
Fetal Chromosome Abnormality Testing Coverage
Integrated Protection for Shingles, Hepatitis, and Other Viral Diseases
Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance announced on the 25th that it has obtained a six-month exclusive use right for two new coverage options: the chorionic villus and amniocentesis testing support benefit under the “Good&Good Comprehensive Child Insurance Q,” and two types of antiviral drug treatment benefits for specific diseases under the “Good&Good 1540 Comprehensive Insurance.”
With the rise in the average age of childbirth, chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis tests—essential exams for detecting fetal chromosomal abnormalities—have been increasing. Despite their necessity, the high cost has been passed on to mothers as they are not covered by national insurance. Through the introduction of this new coverage, which supports these tests following abnormal selective screening results, Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance eases mothers’ concerns by providing coverage—up to 700,000 won for the first occurrence only—if they are diagnosed with abnormal findings in prenatal selective screening and subsequently receive either a chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis.
Additionally, to enhance protection for the growing number of viral disease patients, the insurer has introduced new coverage for antiviral drug treatment for specific diseases. If diagnosed with a viral disease such as chickenpox, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), shingles, or hepatitis, and prescribed a reimbursable antiviral medication, the policyholder is eligible for coverage once per year. Previously, separate insurance would have been required for each diagnosis, but the company has now integrated the coverage so that a total of 37 antiviral drugs commonly used for major viral diseases are covered.
