"Daegu 'Heatwave Bus' Stationed Near Mayor Chu Kyung-ho's Home for Two Months... City Says 'High Usage Location'"
Daegu Public Servants' Union Chief Raises Concerns
"We Were Unaware the Mayor's Home Was Nearby"
Jang Jaehyung, head of the new public servants' union at Daegu City Hall, said on Facebook on the 24th, "Since August 7, Daegu City has been operating a mobile summer shelter (heatwave) bus service, which will run until September 16. These buses are stationed at four traditional markets, three urban parks, and two central city locations."
Jang added, "Coincidentally, one of the two central city locations is Chimsan Intersection in Buk-gu, Daegu, where Mayor Chu Kyung-ho lives. As soon as he leaves his home in Chimsan-dong, he can see the bus parked at the intersection. I am not sure if this location was truly selected for the benefit of the citizens."

Since this is not a neighborhood with a high concentration of low-income residents, is it really necessary to park a bus here long-term?"
In response, a Daegu City official stated, "Since July, a heatwave bus has been stationed at Chimsan Intersection. This area is convenient for delivery workers and others to access the bus during extreme heat. However, we cannot disclose specific figures for how many people use the heatwave bus daily. We were not aware that the mayor's residence is near Chimsan Intersection."
