Chulwoo Lee, Governor of Gyeongbuk, Receives 'Manifesto Promise Award'... "A Mandate to Prove Our Promises to the People"
Chulwoo Lee, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, was selected on August 24 as a recipient of the "2026 Manifesto (Local Election Category) Promise Award" hosted by the Korea Manifesto Action Headquarters.
The Korea Manifesto Action Headquarters announced the results of the "2026 Manifesto (Local Election Category) Promise Award" selection on this day. In the field of election brochures for mayors and provincial governors, three recipients were chosen, including Chulwoo Lee, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, as well as the Mayor of Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Mayor of Daejeon Metropolitan City.
This evaluation was conducted from June 4 to July 15, targeting election brochures and pledge booklets disclosed during the 9th nationwide simultaneous local elections. The assessment comprehensively covered seven criteria: clarity of objectives, prioritization, implementation procedures, timeline for fulfillment, financial sourcing plans, guiding philosophy and vision, and the democratic nature of the drafting process.
This award holds significance as it recognizes the overall specificity and feasibility of Gyeongbuk's future vision under the 9th popularly elected administration, the detailed nature of the policy pledges for realizing it, and the level of citizen participation.
Governor Lee's election pledges laid out a concrete policy direction and a blueprint for the future course of Gyeongbuk in its 9th term, with "the growth of Gyeongbuk" and "the happiness of its citizens" serving as its twin pillars.
Governor Lee had already received the highest (SA) grade for five consecutive years since 2022 in the comprehensive pledge implementation evaluation conducted by the Korea Manifesto Action Headquarters. This time, he also earned positive reviews for both the design and presentation of the pledges made in the 9th local election.
