M2Cloud to Supply 'ColdCare' IoT Solution for Vaccine Storage and Thawing Management to Moderna
Full Automation of Entire Vaccine Management Process Using Data
Proven in the Field During COVID-19 Pandemic
M2Cloud, a company specializing in cold chain IoT (Internet of Things), announced on August 24 that it has signed a contract with global biopharmaceutical company Moderna to supply its vaccine management program, the 'ColdCare Service.'
Because temperature-sensitive mRNA vaccines are distributed and stored in a frozen state to maintain the stability of their active ingredients, it is crucial to manage not only the maintenance of appropriate temperature after arrival at medical institutions, but also the thawing process and the usable time after thawing, with precision.
M2Cloud's ColdCare is a solution that automates these vaccine management processes based on data. When vaccines are placed in its proprietary IoT device, the 'ColdCare Tray,' which is developed and manufactured in-house, thawing proceeds under stable temperature conditions, and both the thaw completion time and usable time are displayed in real time. The solution also provides notifications and alerts regarding the remaining shelf life, so that medical staff can more accurately verify the best timing for vaccine preparation and administration.
A key feature of this service is that it systematizes storage and thawing management, which in the past relied on manual records or the experience of staff in medical institutions. By managing vaccine temperature and shelf life through data, it not only reduces the workload of medical professionals, but also enhances both accuracy and traceability in the management process.
M2Cloud previously participated as a contractor for building the national vaccine integrated logistics system for the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency during the COVID-19 pandemic, real-time monitoring every stage of vaccine delivery to more than 17,000 sites nationwide and ensuring data integrity throughout. The company explained that, based on this vaccine cold chain management expertise, it has developed a ColdCare Service specifically tailored for Moderna's mRNA vaccine products.
