Through Next IT, KT will expand the role of IT from stable system operation into a core growth engine that drives business and service innovation. The company has established three main pillars: the "Next IT Platform," "Next IT Infrastructure," and "Next IT Works." This initiative aims to strengthen stability and security of systems, increase agility in service development and operations, and flexibly respond to a changing business environment. The primary focus is on reinforcing IT capabilities that improve customer service quality, enhance work productivity, and support new services and the transition to AI transformation (AX).
First, Next IT Platform will drive the modernization of KT’s core business platform. Major systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Business Support System (BSS), and the next-generation Operation Support System (OSS) will be modernized in phases, in tandem with innovations in work processes. Furthermore, the company plans to advance AI-based authentication, payment, and other key customer services, as well as strengthen KT’s data utilization systems. Customized customer services will also be offered through online channels such as KT.com and MyKT. By modernizing the IT platform, KT aims not only to provide differentiated services and quickly adapt to market changes, but also to significantly improve work efficiency for its employees.
The Next IT Infrastructure focuses on building a next-generation IT infrastructure with enhanced stability and security. This will be based on the next-generation internal cloud environment, Next IPC, as well as multi-cloud and hybrid cloud systems. Systems for which technical support for key software and hardware has expired or is nearing expiration will be proactively inspected and transitioned to reduce information security risks. IT system backup and disaster recovery (DR) frameworks will be strengthened to ensure continuity of essential services even during system outages.
Next IT Works aims to transform the way work is done by applying AI to core workflows. Currently, KT applies AI across the entire IT process—from planning and design, to development, testing, and operations—centered on its AID-X framework. AID-X expands the existing AI-Driven Development (AIDD) system to every aspect of IT work, from planning to operation. The company is building an integrated AX platform for effective management and deployment of in-house AI agents, enabling employees to utilize AI agents throughout their work. KT also plans to spread AI-powered work methods throughout all group affiliates to further boost organizational AX execution capabilities.
KT emphasized that AI has become a core tool that enables faster and more efficient work, rather than serving as a simple supplementary means. The company explained that by continuously sharing not only best practices and work experiences involving AI but also trial-and-error cases, KT is establishing validated AI utilization methods as the standard way of working within the organization.
KT plans to develop Next IT into a foundation for future businesses, connecting it to customer service and operational innovation as well as new AX ventures. The company is building its capabilities by modernizing core systems in-house, transitioning to cloud, and adopting AI-based development and operational methodologies, so that AI and AX services lead to tangible business results. This will allow KT to offer customers more stable and convenient digital services, while internally improving agility and productivity in service development and operations. By linking these efforts with business competitiveness that supports corporate clients in their AX transformation, KT will also strengthen the execution of its "AX Platform Company" strategy.
