Orient Precision Enters Thermal Interface Material Business for Electric Vehicles
Orient Precision is entering the thermal interface material (TIM) business.
According to Orient Precision on August 24, TIM is a thermal management material that effectively conducts and dissipates heat generated from batteries and power electronic components, thereby enhancing product performance and safety.
Orient Precision is leveraging its production and quality control know-how, as well as mass-production experience accumulated from its existing automotive parts business, to develop TIM products tailored to the characteristics of electric vehicle (EV) components and the process conditions of client companies. The company aims to establish a business structure that enables it to supply both electrification components and thermal management materials, with the goal of expanding sales related to electric vehicles.
The company is also accelerating the development and mass production preparation of urethane adhesives for electric vehicles. Urethane adhesives can provide both bonding and thermal management functions for key parts such as batteries, and their applications are expected to expand as the electric vehicle market grows. Product development is currently in its final stages, and the company plans to proceed with client testing and performance verification before applying them to mass production.
The next-generation gap filler using magnesium oxide is also under development. Orient Precision is optimizing the particle size, shape, and composition of magnesium oxide to achieve high thermal conductivity, excellent insulation, and lighter weight materials.
Orient Precision plans to expand its range of TIM products, starting with urethane adhesives and gap fillers, that can be applied to the component structures and production processes of each client. The company intends to broaden the scope of products and supply channels in the future, thereby positioning the thermal management materials business as a new growth engine.
