"Woo Jiwon’s Daughter Woo Seoyoon Crowned Jin at Miss Korea"

Woo Seoyoon (22), the daughter of former professional basketball player Woo Jiwon (53), has claimed the highest honor, Jin (眞), at the 70th Miss Korea Competition.
Woo Seoyoon was crowned Jin at the 70th Miss Korea final, hosted by GLOBAL E&B, which took place on August 22 at the COEX Auditorium in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Previously, Woo Seoyoon had earned the title of Sun (善) during the Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon regional preliminaries.
When her name was announced, Woo Seoyoon was visibly surprised and said, "I didn't expect this at all, so I wasn't prepared for an acceptance speech." She continued, "All of my peers worked incredibly hard. Thanks to everyone's painstaking efforts, we were able to create a wonderful stage." She added, "To my family and friends—thank you so much for always supporting and standing by me. This stage was made possible by the hard work and dedication of many people."
Woo Seoyoon is the eldest of two daughters of Woo Jiwon and is currently majoring in Fine Art at Tufts University in the United States. She has expressed her ambition to become a global art curator. Woo Seoyoon previously appeared on a number of variety shows, gaining public recognition. As a child, she appeared alongside her father on SBS's "Star Junior Show Bungeoppang" and also participated in "My Child's Love 2" on tvN STORY and E Channel. Her father, Woo Jiwon, was also known as one of the most handsome players during his professional career, playing 573 games over 13 seasons in professional basketball, with averages of 12.8 points and 2.51 rebounds per game.
This year, 26 finalists competed in the Miss Korea Competition. The title of Sun went to Oh Sumin (25, representing Jeolla, Gwangju, and Jeju; Waseda University, School of International Liberal Studies), Mi (美) to Lee Minsol (21, representing Busan and Ulsan; Yonsei University Underwood International College, Economics), Ye (藝) for the special award went to Noh Hyang (20, Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon Jin; Seoul National University, Department of Korean Classical Music), and Jae (才) to Lee Somin (27, Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon Mi; Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, Piano Department).

This year's competition also drew attention as Jeon Suwan, the daughter of professional basketball coach Jeon Heecheol, participated. Jeon Suwan advanced to the finals after being awarded the title of Mi at the Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon regional preliminaries.
