Kang Hoon-sik: "Presidential Office to Actively Review Ruling Party's Proposals for Securing Residential Land"
"Requesting Local Party Committee Leaders and Heads of Local Governments to Propose Plans"
Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik announced on the 23rd that if the ruling party proposes measures to secure residential land as part of the housing supply plan for the Seoul metropolitan area, the presidential office would actively review them.
At a high-level ruling party-government meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Residence in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, on this day, Kang stated, "Dramatically expanding housing supply in the Seoul metropolitan area is the most challenging issue, and the core of this challenge is securing residential land. If local party committee leaders and heads of local governments, who are well acquainted with regional circumstances, propose viable plans to secure land for immediate supply, the presidential office and the government will actively review them."
Regarding the tax reform proposal, he commented, "As President Lee Jaemyung mentioned at the recent Cabinet meeting, the tax reform proposal was not a unilateral announcement of a finalized policy, but rather a starting point intended to gather public opinion."
He also said, "At today’s meeting as well, the party, government, and the presidential office will share the valuable opinions they have received from citizens and discuss the matter to ensure that the tax reform proposal can be finalized as a more reasonable policy. Through this opportunity, we must carefully listen once again to the voices from the field, and further enhance the quality and public acceptance of our policies."
Regarding the upcoming regular National Assembly session, he noted, "The final step in implementing policy in people’s daily lives is legislation. The government will make clear the priorities among urgent livelihood and economic bills, and more actively explain their necessity to the National Assembly." He then requested, "We ask the party to help forge broad bipartisan consensus so that essential bills are handled in a timely manner."
He concluded, "With the election of a new party leader as a turning point, the party, government, and the presidential office will work together to turn every promise made to the people into tangible results and boldly advance toward an irreplaceable Republic of Korea."
