White House: "Accounts Managed by Third Parties... No Conflict of Interest"
U.S. President Donald Trump conducted over 1,000 securities transactions during the month of June.
According to foreign media including the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 22nd (local time), there were more than 550 purchases and more than 450 sales. Among the stocks disclosed as having a transaction size of over $1 million, the purchases included Berkshire Hathaway, Visa, and Mastercard, while the sales included Meta Platforms and Motorola. All these transactions took place on June 18. That day was the day after President Trump remotely signed a provisional peace agreement to end military conflict with Iran while in Versailles, France. Subsequently, after the U.S. and Iran agreed to end the conflict on June 14, additional stock purchases were made on the 23rd and 24th.
The largest transaction occurred on June 22, when Trump sold between $5 million and $25 million (approximately 6.9 billion to 34.7 billion won) worth of Vanguard Group’s exchange-traded fund (ETF) shares. On June 18, he purchased between $1 million and $5 million (approximately 1.388 billion to 6.94 billion won) worth of Berkshire Hathaway shares, and on June 24, sold a smaller volume of these shares. As for Meta, he sold between $1 million and $5 million worth of shares on the 18th, then repurchased a small amount of Meta shares later that month.
Since beginning his second term in January 2025, President Trump has been investing through an investment account included in a revocable trust managed by his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. The White House emphasized that “President Trump’s investment account is managed independently by third-party financial institutions, and investments are made via computer-based model portfolios that automatically track well-known indices such as the Schwab 1000,” and clarified, “Neither the President nor his family give instructions regarding the timing or selection of securities for trading, nor do they get involved.” Eric Trump, President Trump’s son and Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, also stated that the assets are held in a blind trust.
