"Wasn't That a Woman?"... 'Hidden Camera Man' Facing Arrest After Entering Caribbean Bay Changing Room
Fled After Being Confronted at the Scene
Apprehended at Home After 20 Days on the Run
A man in his 20s was apprehended by police after he entered the women's changing room at Caribbean Bay, a major water park, wearing a wig and secretly filming guests.
On August 22, the Yongin Eastern Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had urgently arrested Mr. A, a man in his 20s, on charges of possessing illegal camera footage under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, as well as entering a public facility for sexual purposes. Police have also requested a detention warrant.
Mr. A is accused of disguising his gender to avoid detection by wearing a wig and other items on two occasions last month, entering the women's changing room, and secretly recording guests with a mobile phone and small camera equipment.
On July 30 at around 4 p.m., Mr. A wandered around the women's changing room but fled the scene when guests and staff who found him suspicious tried to stop him.
The police tracked Mr. A’s movements and, after about 20 days on the run, apprehended him at his residence in Seoul at around 4:30 p.m. on August 21.
During police questioning, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I did it out of curiosity and intended to watch it alone."
