Kim Minseok, leader of the Democratic Party, announced a new party personnel reshuffle on the 22nd, establishing a task force (TF) to support regional committees outside the National Assembly and to strengthen outreach to the public. In addition, he appointed lawmakers Kim Youngho and Yeom Taeyoung to key positions within the party’s standing committees.

View original imagePark Sungjoon, chief spokesperson for the Democratic Party, announced through a press briefing that Assemblywoman Lim Mi-ae and Choi Taekyong, head of the Council of Regional Committee Chairs outside the National Assembly, were appointed as co-heads of the “Task Force for Political System Reform” for supporting non-parliamentary regional committees.
This task force, known as the “Wonaidan,” will collect and present opinions from regional committees outside the National Assembly on improvements to the political system, including proposals to restore local party organizations.
The party also launched a new TF called the “Friday Night Politics Alley Public Task Force,” dedicated to public outreach. Lawmaker Lee Hoonki, who has regularly visited his constituency to listen directly to public concerns every Friday, has been appointed as secretary.
Through social media, Kim stated, “Friday night politics is special. We must narrow the distance between the public and the party.” He added, “I support every National Assembly member and regional committee chair as they take part in the ‘Democratic Friday Night Politics Neighborhood Round.’”

There were also appointments to standing committees. Lawmaker Kim Youngho was named senior vice chair of the World Korean Democrats Council, while lawmakers Lee Kiheon and Lee Jaekang, as well as non-parliamentary figure Jung Kwangil, were appointed vice chairs. Lawmaker Yeom Taeyoung, a former mayor of Suwon, was appointed as chair of the Good Local Government Committee, which is responsible for strengthening cooperation with local governments and councils.
