Mayor Choi: "Continuous Improvement of Jinjeop Line Intervals"
Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Choi Hyunduk) has withdrawn its plan to reduce the number of train services on the Jinjeop Line, which had been scheduled in connection with the operation of the Jinjeop Vehicle Depot. The current number of round-trip services, 158 per day, will be maintained, and there are plans to increase this number to 170 in the first half of next year.

The original plan by Seoul Metro was to reduce the number of services on the Jinjeop Line, reflecting the removal of eight train runs shuttling between Chang-dong Vehicle Depot and Jinjeop Station, once the Jinjeop Vehicle Depot is in operation.
Namyangju City opposed this plan. The city explained that a reduction in train services, on top of already long intervals between trains, would worsen commuting congestion and increase waiting times for passengers using the Jinjeop Line.
Mayor Choi Hyunduk, together with National Assemblyman Kim Byungjoo, has continuously requested the president of Seoul Metro to maintain the train frequency at its current level.
On this day, Mayor Choi visited the Jinjeop Vehicle Depot to review the train operation plan and emphasized the need for thorough preparations to ensure the safe and stable operation of the facility.
Seoul Metro plans to complete all administrative procedures needed to maintain 158 round-trips per day on the Jinjeop Line, in line with Namyangju City's request and to alleviate inconvenience for citizens, by no later than October 1.

Once the additional services are implemented, the city expects improvements such as reduced intervals between trains and mitigation of congestion, thereby enhancing the overall passenger experience.

By maintaining the current 158 round-trips, we hope to alleviate citizens' concerns."
