SF6-Free GIS Lineup Unveiled
First Korean-Made 420kV Model Introduced
Expanding Into the European Market With Eco-Friendly Products

HD Hyundai Electric is set to showcase its eco-friendly power technologies at the world’s largest power grid exhibition, launching a renewed push into the European market.

On August 21, HD Hyundai Electric announced that it will participate in the 'CIGRE Paris Session 2026,' which will be held from August 23 to 28 at the Palais des Congres de Paris in France.

The CIGRE Paris Session, founded in 1921, is a global event in the power systems sector that has continued for over a century and is held every two years. It brings together electric utilities, transmission system operators (TSOs), power equipment manufacturers, and technical experts from around the world to share the latest technologies and discuss the future direction of power grids. At the 2024 event, more than 11,200 power industry professionals from 99 countries participated.

Recently, the European Union (EU) has tightened regulations on fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases) and is gradually restricting the use of high-GWP (Global Warming Potential) gases such as SF6, which are used in extra-high-voltage circuit breakers.

In response to these changes in the market, HD Hyundai Electric will introduce its 72.5kV and 145kV eco-friendly GIS models, as well as the newly tested 420kV GIS, 'GREENTRIC 550SRE,' at this exhibition. Notably, the GREENTRIC 550SRE, developed for the first time in Korea, is an SF6-Free GIS model for key voltage classes used in more than half of Europe’s major power grids. SF6-Free GIS refers to environmentally friendly gas-insulated switchgear that does not use sulfur hexafluoride (SF6).

Through this exhibition, HD Hyundai Electric plans to actively promote the competitiveness of its eco-friendly GIS technologies in various voltage classes to European customers.

During the exhibition, on the evening of August 25, HD Hyundai Electric will host a networking event on the Seine River, inviting leading European power utilities and customers. Under the theme 'Navigating the Future of Energy,' the event will provide an opportunity to share a vision for eco-friendly energy transition and the future of the power grid with global power industry stakeholders, as well as explore future partnership opportunities.

A representative from HD Hyundai Electric stated, "This exhibition is an opportunity to present HD Hyundai Electric’s SF6-Free GIS lineup and eco-friendly power technology competitiveness to key European customers in one place," adding, "Based on a diverse portfolio of eco-friendly power equipment, we will actively respond to the demand for green transition in the European power grid and further strengthen our competitiveness in the global market."
