Gimcheon City emphasized that with its already established innovation city infrastructure and transportation accessibility, it is the optimal location for the additional relocation of public institutions.
In the railway sector, Gimcheon City proposed eight projects with a total project cost of 16.2 trillion won. The main new projects include: extension of the Daegu Metropolitan Railway to Gimcheon, the Gimcheon–Uiseong (New Airport) railway, the Gimcheon–Jeonju east-west transversal railway, the Gimcheon–Cheongju Airport railway, and attracting an EMU rolling stock maintenance depot, among others.
The city also requested timely budget allocations for ongoing projects such as the Southern Inland Railway, the Central Inland Railway, and the over-track station building at Gimcheon Station.
Congressman Unseok Song stated, "The second phase relocation of public institutions must be centered on Gimcheon Innovation City," and added, "We will actively promote it as the optimal location for relocation, backed by a solid residential foundation and expanded transportation network."
Mayor Nakho Bae stressed, "Gimcheon is a major railway transport hub located at the center of the country and already has the foundation to successfully support the relocation of public institutions through the innovation city. Utilizing existing infrastructure, Gimcheon Innovation City is the ideal choice for the second phase relocation, maximizing the effects of balanced regional development across the country."
