Seoul Central District Court Recognizes Injunction Against C and Liability for Damages

JVM, a subsidiary of Hanmi Science, has won a patent infringement lawsuit related to automatic pharmaceutical packaging equipment.
JVM announced on the 20th that it had prevailed in a lawsuit filed against domestic automatic dispensing equipment manufacturer C, seeking an injunction against patent infringement and damages concerning automatic pharmaceutical packaging equipment.
The Seoul Central District Court ruled on the 16th of last month that company C had infringed upon JVM’s patent rights, recognizing both an injunction on patent infringement and liability for damages.
This lawsuit was initiated by JVM in 2020. JVM claimed that company C had unlawfully utilized its patented technology related to automatic pharmaceutical packaging equipment. Over the ensuing six years, legal battles regarding the validity of the patent rights and whether infringement had occurred continued, moving through the Patent Court and the Supreme Court.
During the proceedings, company C asserted non-infringement and also filed a patent invalidation trial, challenging the validity of the patent rights. However, following decisions by the Patent Court and the Supreme Court, the validity of the patent was ultimately confirmed, and in the recent decision by the Seoul Central District Court, both patent infringement and liability for damages were recognized.
JVM develops and supplies automatic dispensing and packaging solutions to hospitals and pharmacies worldwide. Hanmi Pharm is responsible for overseas business, while JVM is focusing on developing next-generation products and new solutions.
