Export-Import Bank of Korea Donates KRW 100 Million for Recovery from Southern Coast Heavy Rain Damage
The Export-Import Bank of Korea announced on August 20, 2026 that it has delivered 100 million won in relief funds to the National Disaster Relief Association to aid recovery from the heavy rain damage that struck the southern coastal regions of Gyeongnam Province.
The relief funds will be used to help stabilize the lives of residents and support the swift recovery of the affected areas, including Geoje, Tongyeong, Sacheon in Gyeongnam Province, as well as Busan and Jeju.
From August 15, the southern coastal area of Gyeongnam Province experienced record-breaking rainfall for three consecutive days. During this period, cumulative precipitation reached 968 mm in Geoje and 779 mm in Tongyeong, causing flooding in many locations.

Ki-Yeon Hwang, President of The Export-Import Bank of Korea, stated, "We offer our deepest condolences to the residents who have lost their homes due to the sudden heavy rain," adding, "We hope this support will contribute to the rapid restoration of daily life." He further said, "We will continue to promptly participate in relief activities and support victims whenever disasters occur in the future."
