Police Conclude No Charges Against MC Mong Over Proxy Prescription Allegations
The police have concluded that singer MC Mong (real name Shin Donghyun) is not guilty regarding the allegations of receiving a proxy prescription for sleeping pills.
On the 20th, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station announced that it had decided not to refer the case of Shin's alleged proxy prescription of psychotropic drugs to the prosecutors after an investigation.
In January, former Korean Medical Association president Lim Hyuntaek filed a complaint with the prosecution, claiming that Shin had received a proxy prescription for zolpidem—a psychotropic drug—through his former manager.
In February, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station took over the case from Daegu Seobu Police Station, proceeded to investigate Shin and his former manager, and also conducted a thorough examination of Shin at the National Forensic Service. The examination reportedly found no trace of illegal substances, such as methamphetamine or cocaine.
