US Commercial Sector Revenue Soars 149% Year-on-Year
Annual Revenue Outlook Raised for This Year
High Valuation and Reliance on Government Require Caution
According to analysis from the securities industry, Palantir, a US-based AI-driven big data analytics company, is continuing its high growth by leading the market for AI operating systems that connect data integration and work execution.
On August 20, LS Securities reported that researcher Sun Yoo-jin stated, "Palantir is establishing itself not merely as an AI application, but as an enterprise AI operating system, and its long-term platform value is expected to increase."
Palantir’s core competitiveness stems from its ontology-based platform, which connects a company’s data and work processes in a unified structure. Researcher Sun explained, "The AI Platform (AIP) securely links various large language models (LLMs)—including those from OpenAI and Anthropic—to internal corporate data, and provides integrated management of permissions and security. As AI model capabilities become increasingly standardized, the importance of platforms that connect unique corporate data and work becomes greater."
In the second quarter of this year, Palantir achieved revenue of USD 1.935 billion (approximately KRW 3 trillion), an increase of 93% compared to the same period last year. This substantially exceeded the company’s own performance projections. Revenue from the US government sector reached USD 809 million, up 90% year-on-year. Particularly, as AI adoption by private companies gains momentum, sales in the US commercial sector surged to USD 764 million (about KRW 1 trillion), marking a 149% jump from a year ago.
Profitability indicators also showed significant improvement. According to GAAP, operating profit was USD 912 million, with an operating margin of 47.1%. Adjusted operating profit came in at USD 1.194 billion, resulting in an adjusted operating margin of 62%. Researcher Sun commented, "With the expansion of the AIP platform and product standardization, the improvement in operating performance is clearly evident. As more customers adopt the AI platform, the additional costs necessary to spread further solutions relatively decrease."
However, the analyst pointed out that since Palantir’s strong growth and profitability are already largely reflected in its current corporate value, factors such as a slowdown in AIP growth or weak performance in overseas markets could increase stock price volatility. In fact, 81% of the company’s total second-quarter revenue was concentrated in the US, indicating that global market expansion remains relatively slow.

The researcher added, "Potential dilution of share value due to high stock-based compensation costs, and political or ethical controversies arising from sensitive defense and intelligence applications, could also act as discount factors for the stock price. While the case for long-term investment is clear, it’s important to consider both quarterly order fluctuations and valuation pressures."
