Building an Inclusive Sports Ecosystem Without Prejudice
SK Telecom will hold the SK Telecom Adaptive Open 2026 with SK hynix.
The tournament will kick off on August 24 at the 88 Country Club in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, which operates under the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. Now in its fifth year, this event brings together players with and without disabilities to enjoy golf rounds together, putting into practice the values of an inclusive society. The tournament also provides healing through golf and opportunities for development as golfers for athletes with developmental disabilities.
This year, 30 athletes with developmental disabilities will participate, along with famed professional golfer Lee Seungmin, 15 professional golfers and celebrities, and 15 supporters who are former professional golfers. Nine players from the Korea Professional Golfers’ Association (KPGA) tour—including Kim Hanbyeol, Kim Hongtaek, and Ham Jungwoo—and four players from the Korea Ladies Professional Golfers’ Association (KLPGA) tour—including Kim Jaehee and Lee Sehee—will team up with the athletes with developmental disabilities to compete on the field.
The tournament will be played in stroke play format, with each team consisting of two athletes with developmental disabilities, one professional golfer, and one supporter, making up a foursome. Rankings will be determined in both individual and team competitions. SK Telecom will sponsor tournament expenses for the individual winner and runner-up to participate in either the 2027 US Adaptive Open or the G4D Open. The 88 Country Club will grant a "nine-hole round usage voucher valid outside regular hours for one year," while the Choi Kyung-Joo Foundation will provide various benefits, including a Srixon golf equipment set.

In addition to the golf competition, there will be a variety of other programs, including an art exhibition by LOART, a group of artists with developmental disabilities, and a celebratory performance by Dreamwith Ensemble, a performance group composed of individuals with developmental disabilities. SK Telecom stated, "This tournament is a leading sports ESG program that breaks down barriers between people with and without disabilities through sports," adding, "We will continue our efforts to eliminate social prejudice against people with developmental disabilities and strive to deliver a positive influence that gives them hope and courage."
