"Samsung Electronics Raises Some Foundry Prices by Up to 15%"
According to a report by Reuters on August 19, Samsung Electronics has raised the price of certain cutting-edge foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) services by up to 15% for new orders, citing multiple industry sources.
The report stated that Samsung Electronics increased the price of semiconductors produced using its 4-nanometer process last month. For clients in the United States and China, the price hikes ranged from 10% to 15%, while for clients in Taiwan, the increase was between 5% and 10%. This measure was prompted by rising demand for chips related to artificial intelligence (AI).

The report also noted that although recent demand from Chinese clients has been particularly strong, Samsung Electronics is unable to fulfill all orders, as the company must also allocate production capacity to U.S. clients and for its own semiconductor production needs.
