A special exhibition commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of Park Kyungri will be held at Woori Bank.

View original imageAccording to the financial industry on August 19, the "Park Kyungri Special Exhibition" will run until September 18 at 'Woori1899' inside the Woori Bank headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Before her literary debut, Park Kyungri worked as a bank clerk at the Yongsan branch of Commercial Bank, the predecessor of Woori Bank, in 1954. At that time, she published a long poem titled "The Sea and the Sky" in the bank’s internal magazine "Cheonil" under her real name, Park Geum-i. Even after she left the bank, she continued her connection by contributing short stories such as “Memoirs of a Past Life” to the magazine. The special exhibition offers free admission to early works and personal artifacts, including relics that Park Kyungri submitted to the internal magazine during her time at Commercial Bank.
Woori Bank will sponsor the English translation and publication project for Park Kyungri’s epic novel "Toji." Through this support, the bank aims to introduce the novel to readers around the world. This year’s Park Kyungri Literary Award will include a special trophy for individuals who have contributed to the development of Korean literature.
