ATOM Expands into EV Electronics and AI Data Center Power...Major Overhaul of Articles of Incorporation
KOSDAQ-listed company ATOM (355690) has significantly expanded its business portfolio by adding electric vehicle (EV) electronic components and artificial intelligence (AI) data center power solutions as new core businesses through an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders.
On the 19th, ATOM announced that it held an extraordinary general meeting at its headquarters in Guro-gu, Seoul, and approved an amendment to part of its articles of incorporation, including a change in business objectives, as originally proposed. The strategy is to move away from its traditional focus on mobile and TV components and to develop eco-friendly mobility electronic components and AI data center power solutions as new growth drivers.
With this amendment to its articles of incorporation, the company has specifically outlined its business objectives across 12 advanced business sectors, including eco-friendly mobility electronic components, onboard chargers (OBC) and integrated charging control units (ICCU) for vehicles, switched-mode power supplies (SMPS) for servers and AI data centers, and power electronic components.
In particular, the company has newly added controller technology as well as software (S/W) and firmware development as part of its business objectives. This means that ATOM intends to expand beyond hardware component manufacturing and broaden into power control software, aiming to transform into a system-level solutions provider.
Preparations for business activities related to AI data centers are also underway. In June, ATOM obtained KC certification (Korean national integrated certification mark) for all 10 models of its server products. Additionally, the company was selected as a supplier of standby power reduction excellent products by the Korea Energy Agency. Based on these developments, ATOM plans to register on the Public Procurement Service's Nara Market and enter the public and edge data center markets.
The company’s plan is to supply its certified server products to public institutions and the corporate infrastructure market, while also responding to the growing demand for edge AI and distributed data processing markets.
In the electric vehicle electronic components field, ATOM has also completed technical validation for a slim, flat transformer used in automotive ICCU modules. The company confirmed that this product achieves an efficiency rate of 97.7% in 800-volt high-voltage environments. In its data center power business, ATOM is also collaborating with Sungho Electronics to localize server and data center power supplies.
The company has also secured financial resources to support future global business expansion. At this general meeting of shareholders, shareholders approved a measure to increase the limit for issuing new stock purchase warrants from 30% of the total number of issued shares to 60%. This is intended to better facilitate technical collaborations and joint ventures with global automakers and big tech firms, as well as the attraction of strategic and institutional investors.
According to the company, the recent rights offering recorded a subscription rate of 101.11%, enabling ATOM to secure 14 billion won in growth capital. The company believes this will allow it to accelerate investments in new business areas going forward.
The company’s production base is also being realigned to support expansion into new businesses. ATOM has completed the automation upgrade of all lines at its production base in Vietnam and, leveraging synergies with its subsidiary DST, plans to begin mass production of high-margin new products from early 2027.
An ATOM representative stated, “With this amendment to our articles of incorporation, our financial flexibility to respond to large-scale orders and business expansion has increased. We have established the foundation to accelerate our EV electronic components and AI data center power business in earnest.”
Taecksoo Han, CEO of ATOM, emphasized, “This extraordinary shareholders’ meeting is significant as it completes the institutional foundation for the EV electronics and AI data center power businesses that we have been working toward for several years. We will further enhance corporate and shareholder value by combining our flat transformer technology with our capabilities in control software.”
