SMEs Ministry Launches 'One-Stop Support Center' for Traditional Markets Hit by Heavy Rainfall
On-site Support from Damage Recovery to Business Stabilization
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on August 19 that it will officially operate the 'One-Stop Support Center' starting that day, in order to enable traditional market merchants in the Gyeongnam region, who suffered damages from the heavy rainfall, to quickly resume business operations and return to their daily lives.
The 'One-Stop Support Center' is an integrated support system established to eliminate the inconvenience of affected merchants having to visit multiple agencies. It enables them to promptly receive all necessary support for damage recovery — such as facility restoration, financial assistance, administrative support, and counseling — directly on site.
This One-Stop Support Center will be operated jointly by the Gyeongnam Regional Office of SMEs and Startups, the Agency for Traditional Market Promotion, the regional credit guarantee foundations, and local governments. The centers will be set up at two locations: the parking lot management office of Geoje Gohyeon Market and the merchant association office of Tongyeong Seoho Market. Both centers are scheduled to operate daily without holidays until the situation stabilizes.
Immediately after the heavy rainfall, the Ministry conducted on-site inspections to assess the damage experienced by merchants and provided prompt support for recovery. Going forward, the ministry plans to provide financial assistance, including policy funds and guarantees, to stabilize the management of merchants in traditional markets affected by the disaster, and will also support the restoration of electrical and gas facilities in traditional markets that suffered flood damage.

Lee Byungkwon, Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, stated, "It is most important to provide prompt support so that merchants facing difficulties due to flood damage can return to their businesses as soon as possible," and added, "We will make every effort for recovery through the One-Stop Support Center until the situation is fully stabilized."
