Hub Facilities Set for Construction in Six Townships
Improving Access to Essential Services for Rural Residents
Haenam-gun in South Jeolla Province has officially begun its large-scale "Basic Living Hub Development Project," investing a substantial budget of 38 billion won to transform the living conditions of rural villages.
According to Haenam-gun on August 19, the Basic Living Hub Development Project is a state-funded public contest initiative organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. By focusing on township centers, the project aims to enhance cultural, welfare, and community functions to improve access to essential living services for rural residents and create better living conditions.
Through the "Rural Agreement" signed in 2023, the county secured a total project budget of 38 billion won, including 26.6 billion won in national funding, to implement the project in seven townships: Samsan-myeon, Hwasan-myeon, Hyunsan-myeon, Bukil-myeon, Okcheon-myeon, Gyegok-myeon, and Bukpyeong-myeon.
The county plans to construct hub facilities in each township except for Bukpyeong-myeon. Samsan-myeon is the first to move forward with the project. The county will build a three-story hub facility with a total floor area of 597 square meters on a park site next to the township office. This facility will include a village lounge, shared kitchen, multipurpose room, fitness room, and health care room. Construction will officially begin in August this year, with the goal of completion by August next year.
For the remaining five townships, the county is expediting administrative procedures such as detailed design and aims to begin construction within the year. Notably, throughout the entire process, the county intends to actively gather and reflect the opinions of local residents to further enhance the effectiveness and quality of the project.
