Daegu Veterans Affairs Office Designates Four New Contracted Hospitals, Medical Services Begin on the 19th
Outsourced Treatment to Begin on August 19 at Three Locations in Daegu and One in Sangju
Total of 126 Contracted Veterans Hospitals in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Expanded
The foundation enabling national merit recipients and their families to receive medical treatment at nearby local healthcare institutions, instead of traveling to veterans hospitals, has been further expanded.
The Daegu Regional Veterans Affairs Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced that it has newly designated Myeongin Dental Clinic in Nam-gu, Daegu; Ibaek Eye Clinic in Jung-gu; Haeu Urology Clinic in Suseong-gu; and Sangju Municipal Nursing Hospital in Sangju, North Gyeongsang Province, as contracted veterans hospitals. Beginning August 19, these institutions will start offering designated medical services to eligible veterans and their dependents.
The contracted veterans hospital system allows eligible veterans and their families to conveniently receive care at designated medical institutions close to their residences, without having to visit veterans hospitals located in the six major metropolitan cities.
With these new designations, veterans and their families in the Daegu and North Gyeongsang regions now have a greater selection of medical institutions available to them.
Currently, there is at least one contracted veterans hospital operating in each district, city, or county in Daegu and North Gyeongsang. Including the four newly added institutions, a total of 126 contracted hospitals are now designated in the region—42 in Daegu and 84 in North Gyeongsang.
In particular, this latest round includes new institutions in diverse specialties such as dentistry, ophthalmology, urology, and nursing hospitals. This expansion is expected to improve medical access for veterans and their families within their daily living areas.
This expansion of contracted hospitals is significant for enhancing the convenience of healthcare use for elderly veterans as well as their families. Even in areas that are relatively far from a veterans hospital, individuals can now receive necessary medical care at closer local institutions.
Kim Jongsul, Director of the Daegu Regional Veterans Affairs Office, stated, "With the new designations, we expect that national merit recipients and their families will receive tangible support," adding, "We will continue to expand collaborations with local medical institutions so that veterans and their families can easily access medical services in their daily lives, and will do our best to improve their health and medical welfare."
