Office of the President on Jung Sungho’s Resignation Letter: “Fulfill Duties Until Successor Is Appointed”
Regarding the resignation letter submitted by Minister of Justice Jung Sungho, the Office of the President stated on the 18th, "We have asked Minister Jung to fulfill his duties until his successor is appointed."
Chief Presidential Spokesperson Kang Yujeong explained during a briefing at Chunchugwan that "Minister Jung has carried out his responsibilities diligently in accordance with the demands of the people. He has requested to be relieved of his duties for health reasons." Kang also added, "There is no set timeline for an upcoming cabinet reshuffle."
Minister Jung submitted his resignation letter to both the Office of the President and the Ministry of Personnel Management on the afternoon of the same day. It is reported that his resignation letter cited his health issues as well as the completion of major legislative reforms regarding the prosecution service.
