Gyeonggi Province Governor Choo Mi-ae stated on the 18th, “The ordinary lives of our residents can only be protected on the firm foundation of strong security,” and called for the establishment of thorough emergency preparedness.

View original imageDuring the “First Situation Report Meeting of the 2026 Eulji Exercise” held at the Exhibition Comprehensive Situation Room at 8:00 a.m. on that day, Governor Choo remarked, “The security of Gyeonggi Province is the security of the Republic of Korea,” adding, “There must be no negligence, even for a moment, when it comes to security.”
Governor Choo also stated, “The Eulji Exercise is an important process for checking our crisis response capabilities and reinforcing the national emergency preparedness posture by having the government, private sector, and military take part in realistic training, in order to prepare for wartime or national emergencies.”
She went on to say, “As a border region and the most populous area in the country, Gyeonggi Province is a critical security stronghold, hosting more than 50% of the nation’s key national and military facilities, as well as military power.”
Governor Choo requested, “During the four-day, three-night Eulji Exercise, ensure complete preparedness for emergency situations in wartime. Respond swiftly and decisively according to each functional contingency plan, with the protection of residents as top priority.” She added, “Also, please make thorough preparations so that administrative functions do not cease even in wartime.”
Additionally, she stated, “Make every effort to guarantee that administrative functions continue during wartime by responding quickly and decisively according to each functional contingency plan, always putting resident safety first. I hope that the successful conclusion of this Eulji Exercise will serve as an opportunity for Gyeonggi Province’s crisis management capabilities to take a step forward.”
The Eulji Exercise is a government-wide emergency preparedness drill conducted to protect the lives and property of citizens in the event of national emergencies, such as war or terrorism.
