LG AI Research's flagship artificial intelligence model, "K-EXAONE," has successfully passed the second round of evaluations for the government’s "Indigenous AI Foundation Model Project," accelerating its development into a global AI model. On August 18, LG AI Research announced that it had passed the second phase evaluation for the "Indigenous AI Foundation Model Project" led by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

In this second phase, LG AI Research focused on laying the groundwork for developing flagship-level, large-scale foundation models that can compete in global markets. To achieve this, the company expanded the model to over three times the size of its predecessor and tackled technical challenges across both training and inference of large-scale models.
