Gyeonggi Superintendent An Minseok: "I Will Use This Year's Eulji Exercise as a Starting Point for Change"
An Minseok, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, emphasized on August 18, "I will use the '2026 Eulji Exercise,' which I am experiencing for the first time as superintendent, as a starting point for change."
Superintendent An made this statement while attending the "First Situation Report of the 2026 Eulji Exercise," held in the Comprehensive Situation Room at the Southern Government Complex on the morning of August 18.
The first situation report of the Eulji Exercise was attended by the Superintendent, the Director of Planning and Coordination, department and division heads at the Southern Government Complex, as well as the Second Deputy Superintendent and department and division heads at the Northern Government Complex via video conference. They simulated wartime scenarios close to reality, including blackout and water cutoff drills in the Comprehensive Situation Room.
This year's Eulji Exercise included improvements based on the outcomes of the previous year's exercise. In particular, for the first time among all provincial and metropolitan Offices of Education nationwide, the exercise enhanced the sense of crisis by screening AI-generated incident videos mirroring real wartime situations. In addition, by converting difficult military terminology into simpler language, the Office plans to ensure that anyone can easily understand and act immediately, even in emergency situations.

Remembering these two independence activists, who devoted themselves to education even in difficult times, made my visit especially meaningful."
He further emphasized, "I expressed my gratitude and respect for their dedication and sacrifice, realizing how thankful we should be that we live in the Republic of Korea today and that our nation protects us."
He also urged, "Please participate in the drills with greater vigilance than usual to prepare for combat readiness that could be required at any moment."
