"Continued Implementation of Electrical Safety Assurance Building Needed"... 94.4% of Busan Urban Corporation Residents Respond Positively
Satisfaction Survey of 323 Residents at Ilgwang 4BL
Safety Scores Highest at 82.1 Points
Raising Awareness of Certification Remains a Challenge
It has been found that more than 9 out of 10 residents are in favor of the continued implementation of the "Electrical Safety Assurance Building Certification" program, which Busan Urban Corporation is promoting to improve the level of electrical safety in public rental housing.
Busan Urban Corporation announced on August 18 that in a satisfaction survey conducted among the residents of Ilgwang Dongwon Royal Duke (Ilgwang 4BL Integrated Public Rental Housing, 1,134 households), which has received the top grade Electrical Safety Assurance Building Certification, 94.4% of respondents responded positively to the continued operation of this certification system.
The Electrical Safety Assurance Building Certification is a system granted by the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation that comprehensively evaluates the safety, convenience, and efficiency of electrical equipment in apartment complexes. Busan Urban Corporation is striving to obtain this certification in order to enhance the electrical safety standards of public rental housing and to deliver tangible improvements in residential quality for residents.
This survey was conducted to assess resident awareness, perceived satisfaction with the certification system, satisfaction by category, and needs for improvement. Conducted online with QR codes from July 1 to July 30, a total of 323 residents participated.
In terms of satisfaction by category, "Safety" received the highest score, at 82.1 points. This was followed by perceived effectiveness at 79.0 points, convenience at 77.0 points, and efficiency at 76.1 points.
This indicates that the area of electrical safety, which is the core purpose of the certification, received the highest evaluation. Notably, 87.6% of respondents stated that the Electrical Safety Assurance Building Certification helps improve residential safety and quality of life.
Furthermore, 51.1% of respondents selected electrical safety as the most satisfactory aspect. It is analyzed that the establishment of electrical safety facilities and management systems through the certification has provided residents with a clear and tangible sense of benefit.
On the other hand, awareness of the system itself was relatively low. 61.3% of respondents said they learned about the Electrical Safety Assurance Building Certification for the first time through this survey.
Since a significant number of residents were unaware of the certification despite being satisfied with it, experts point out that it will be necessary not only to promote the purpose of the certification, but also to actively inform residents of the functions and effects of major electrical safety facilities.
Busan Urban Corporation plans to review options to incorporate the suggestions for improvement identified in this survey into the guidelines for designing apartment complexes, as well as future electrical design and construction processes. The survey results will be shared with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and Busan Urban Corporation will continue to collaborate and consult for further improvements to the system.
In the future, Busan Urban Corporation plans to expand satisfaction surveys to other forms of public rental housing, such as Happy Housing, in order to collect opinions from a wider range of residents.
Shin Changho, CEO of Busan Urban Corporation, stated, "Through this survey, we have confirmed that residents recognize the Electrical Safety Assurance Building Certification as making a real difference in safety and improvements to their living environment. We will work closely with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation to further advance the certification and create safe public housing where citizens can live with peace of mind."
