Hanyang Securities’ Q2 Operating Profit Jumps 43.3% to 25.5 Billion Won
Hanyang Securities’ operating profit and net profit in the second quarter increased by more than 40% compared to the same period last year. The rise in results has been attributed to increased commission income from securities brokerage and higher interest income from margin loans, following the stock market rally.
On August 18, Hanyang Securities announced that its operating profit for the second quarter reached 25.5 billion won, a 43.3% jump year-on-year. During the same period, net profit rose 44.5% to 19.7 billion won, and operating revenue soared 229.9% to 813 billion won.
On a cumulative basis for the first half of the year, operating profit totaled 51.5 billion won, up 9.1% from the same period last year, while net profit grew 10.4% to 38.3 billion won.
By business segment, trading and retail performed strongly. The trading division achieved higher earnings thanks to the stock market uptrend and the expansion of exchange-traded fund (ETF) liquidity provision business. In the retail segment, the positive stock market also boosted commission income from entrusted trading and interest income from credit extension. Strengthening of non-face-to-face channels further contributed to results through effective marketing.
The bonds and debt capital markets (DCM) segment showed a recovery in performance, focusing on underwriting bonds and stock issuances, even amid an unfavorable market environment including rising interest rates and weakening institutional investor trading. The project financing (PF) division also maintained earnings growth, driven by refinancing of high-quality project sites and deals minimizing proprietary capital input, according to the company.
Hanyang Securities is also continuing to improve its business structure to promote growth in scale and diversify its profit sources. The company is expanding beyond its existing focus areas—trading, corporate finance, and bonds—to include ETF liquidity provision, securities lending brokerage, and credit extension, thereby broadening its profit streams. Preparations are also underway to enter new lines of business, with the Quantitative Finance Division working on obtaining derivatives business licenses. Hanyang Securities has reinforced its capital base through asset revaluation and capital increase by issuing new shares in anticipation of such new ventures.
This year, the company plans to maintain a dividend payout ratio of at least 30% in line with its shareholder return policy. Previously, Hanyang Securities paid a cash dividend of 1,600 won per common share for 2025, recording a consolidated payout ratio of 37.4%.
