Shinhan Asset Management's US Representative Index Fund Series Surpasses 1 Trillion Won in Net Assets
Achieving 1 Trillion Won in Net Assets in Just Three Years Since Launch
Shinhan Asset Management announced on August 18 that the net assets of the 'Shinhan US Representative Index Fund Series,' which invests in major US benchmark indices, have surpassed 1 trillion won.
The Shinhan US Representative Index Fund Series is composed of the 'Shinhan US S&P500 Index Fund' and the 'Shinhan US Nasdaq 100 Index Fund,' both forming a lineup of US representative index funds. Depending on investors' outlook on exchange rates and investment preferences, they can choose between a hedged (H) version or an unhedged (UH) version.
Previously, in August 2023, Shinhan Asset Management launched its US index funds with competitive fee structures and a rapid redemption cycle as key strengths. Since then, as the US stock market continued to grow, steady demand from pension and retail investors allowed the product line to evolve into a leading US index fund series.
The net assets of the Shinhan US Representative Index Fund Series, which stood at 27.8 billion won at the end of 2023, grew to 269.9 billion won by the end of 2024, and surpassed 685.4 billion won by the end of last year. Continued capital inflows enabled the fund series to surpass 1 trillion won in net assets just three years after its initial launch.
In terms of returns, the Shinhan US S&P500 Index Fund (H) and Shinhan US S&P500 Index Fund (UH) posted annual returns of 19.31% and 24.36%, respectively, over the most recent one-year period. The Shinhan US Nasdaq 100 Index Fund (H) and Shinhan US Nasdaq 100 Index Fund (UH) recorded returns of 24.06% and 29.41%, respectively, over the same period.

Kim Kyungil, Head of the WM Pension Channel Division at Shinhan Asset Management, stated, "The Shinhan US Representative Index Fund Series has consistently been chosen by investors based on an index strategy that seeks to capture overall growth in the US stock market, rather than chasing specific sectors or short-term market momentum." He added, "Since costs can accumulate over the long term, index funds with a relatively low-cost structure may yield positive long-term results as well."
