Financial Supervisory Service and Ewha Womans University to Host International Conference on "Future Climate Finance"

On August 17, the Financial Supervisory Service announced that it will co-host an international conference with Ewha Womans University to strengthen climate risk management capabilities in the financial sector.
The conference, themed “Future Climate Finance in the Era of Green Transition,” will be held at Ewha Womans University on September 2. Representatives from domestic and international financial supervisory authorities and financial institutions will participate to discuss the role of climate finance from various perspectives.
Attendees will share examples of policy initiatives on transition finance from major global financial authorities aimed at leading effective low-carbon transitions in response to the escalating climate crisis. In addition, exemplary cases including response strategies by global financial regulators and financial institutions for climate risk management will be introduced.
The Financial Supervisory Service also plans to announce its own initiatives, including the establishment of climate scenarios and plans for conducting stress tests.
After the conclusion of the conference, an “Artificial Intelligence (AI) Challenge” competition and recruitment briefing session will be held to support young people seeking careers in future finance and green finance sectors.
During the AI Challenge, young participants will present innovative financial service ideas utilizing AI technology. Financial institutions will offer advice on the feasibility of these ideas, and outstanding teams will receive benefits such as scholarships and preferential hiring opportunities.
