In his speech, Mayor Lee paid tribute to independence activists and patriotic martyrs from Hanam, including Kim Hong-ryul, Kim Kyo-young, Lee Dae-heon, Koo Hee-seo, and Koo Seung-hoe. He went on to state, "Just as the Republic of Korea is leading the world through semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and K-culture, Hanam will also strive toward a greater future," presenting his 'Five Major Municipal Visions.'
As a first step, the city plans to establish 'K-Star World,' a cultural and tourism complex combining a national garden and a K-culture multiplex in the Misa Island area, to foster Hanam as a leading cultural and tourism city in Asia. The initiative aims to attract tens of millions of tourists annually and create jobs for young people.
The city will also accelerate projects that have been stagnant for nearly 20 years, such as the development of Camp Colbern and the construction of the Gyosan AI Innovation Cluster. Plans are also in place to expand core infrastructure by building Yonsei Hanam Hospital and attracting a five-star hotel, with the goal of securing investments totaling 10 trillion won by 2030.
Efforts to improve the transportation system will be fully launched. In addition to the existing Subway Line 5, the city will actively promote the extensions of Subway Line 3, Line 9, the GTX-D line via Hwangsan, and the Wirye-Sinsa line to Hanam, aiming to establish a 'five-rail era' and develop Hanam into a major transportation hub for eastern metropolitan Seoul.
Incremental increases will be made to veterans’ honor allowances and senior transport subsidies, while free influenza vaccinations and support for dementia-related medical expenses will be expanded. The city also plans to reinforce educational and childcare infrastructure by establishing a new Hanam Office of Education, opening a specialized children's English library this October, and constructing a children's center by 2027.
The city will expand transportation networks connecting the old downtown with Misa, Gam-il, Wirye, and Gyosan New Towns, while also promoting downtown redevelopment to achieve balanced development across different regions.
During the commemorative performance, the team 'Depas' presented a gala performance from the musical 'Kim Maria,' dynamically reenacting the Manse Movement that spread nationwide following the February 8th Independence Declaration in 1919.

Meanwhile, on the day before Liberation Day, August 14, Mayor Lee Hyun-jae personally visited two local families of independence activists to express his gratitude and respect, and to listen to their concerns.
