Naver and Kakao CEOs See Higher Compensation in First Half... Suyeon Choi Earns 2.67 Billion Won, Jungshin A 1.21 Billion Won
Suyeon Choi’s Compensation Up 4.6%, Jungshin A Sees 29.6% Increase
Lee Haejin Receives 1.598 Billion Won, Unchanged From Last Year
It has been revealed that Suyeon Choi, CEO of Naver, and Jungshin A, CEO of Kakao, received compensation of 2,667 million won and 1,209 million won, respectively, during the first half of this year. Both CEOs saw an increase in their compensation compared to the same period last year.
According to each company’s semi-annual report released on August 14, Suyeon Choi, CEO of Naver, earned compensation of 2,667 million won in the first half of the year, marking a 4.6% increase compared to the 2,550 million won received during the same period last year.
CEO Choi received 550 million won as salary, 1,430 million won as bonuses, 655 million won in Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and 32 million won as other earned income. Naver explained that the bonus calculation reflected the comprehensive achievement of major management targets, such as last year’s revenue and operating profit, as well as the company’s performance in advancing its Artificial Intelligence (AI) business.
Lee Haejin, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Naver, received 1,598 million won, the same amount as in the first half of last year, which included 770 million won as salary and 760 million won as bonuses.
Jungshin A, CEO of Kakao, received total compensation of 1,209 million won in the first half, a 29.6% increase compared to the 933 million won recorded during the same period last year. The package consisted of 500 million won in salary, 706 million won in bonuses, and 3 million won as other earned income.

Kakao stated that CEO Jung’s bonus reflected a comprehensive evaluation of the company’s performance, which included last year’s revenue and operating profit, as well as the achievement rate for strategic objectives and ESG management indicators.
