JR Global REIT Extends ARS Negotiation Period by One More Month
The period for voluntary restructuring discussions between JR Global REIT and its creditors, aimed at normalizing the company, has been extended by one more month.
On August 14, a representative from JR Global REIT announced, "The Seoul Bankruptcy Court has approved a plan to extend the Autonomously Regulated Restructuring (ARS) program discussions for an additional month, until September 14."
The representative explained, "Since the launch of the ARS in May, close discussions with creditors, such as creditor briefings, have been underway to complete the ARS process. However, since legal proceedings are still ongoing in a UK court regarding the appraisal of our key asset, the Finance Tower in Belgium, an additional period for discussions has become necessary."
The ARS program allows a company, under court supervision, to voluntarily negotiate normalization measures such as debt repayment with creditors, while suspending a decision on whether to begin insolvency proceedings for a certain period. If an agreement with creditors is reached, the application for insolvency proceedings is withdrawn, and JR Global REIT can return to normal operations.
Previously, on April 27, JR Global REIT applied for insolvency proceedings after failing to repay short-term bonds worth KRW 40 billion that had reached maturity. The company also applied for the ARS program simultaneously with the insolvency proceedings.
