Yeouido Pier Most Popular... 97% Satisfaction Rate
Seoul's "Hangang Bus" surpassed a cumulative total of 500,000 passengers just 11 months after it began operations in September last year. With about half of all users riding on weekends, the Hangang Bus is emerging as a new form of leisure content.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on August 14 that the Hangang Bus, which officially launched on September 18 last year, recorded a cumulative passenger count of 501,430 as of August 13, surpassing the 500,000 mark.
According to a performance analysis, demand for the Hangang Bus is heavily concentrated on weekends. Passengers using the service on Saturdays and Sundays accounted for 243,509, representing approximately 49% of the total.
Notably, after full service on all sections resumed and standard operations began on March 1, the proportion of weekend passengers rose to about 51%. Despite weekends comprising only two days of the week, more than half of total passengers used the Hangang Bus on weekends.
By pier, Yeouido had the highest number of passengers, with 177,893 users. This was followed by Jamsil with 69,227, Magok with 66,818, Ttukseom with 58,526, and Mangwon with 51,965.
Additionally, Oksu saw 33,218 passengers, Apgujeong had 29,666, and Seoul Forest recorded 14,117 users. In particular, the Seoul Forest temporary pier, opened on June 8 to improve access for visitors to the Seoul International Garden Expo, has established itself as a new hub for passengers in just over two months.
Going forward, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to continuously analyze usage by pier and day of the week and use the insights to improve operations and services.
User satisfaction with the Hangang Bus service is also reportedly high. In a survey conducted last month among passengers, about 97% of respondents said they were satisfied with the Hangang Bus.
93% of respondents said they would use the Hangang Bus again in the future, and 95% indicated they would recommend the service to acquaintances.
