Special Prosecutor Indicts Na Kyung-won, Kim Gi-hyeon, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Kwon Young-jin for Obstructing Yoon’s Arrest
Charged with Obstructing Execution of Yoon's Arrest Warrant
Members of the People Power Party have been indicted on charges of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) and other agencies against former President Yoon Suk-yeol.
On August 14, the second Special Prosecutor's Task Force announced that People Power Party lawmakers Na Kyung-won, Kim Gi-hyeon, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Kwon Young-jin had been indicted without detention on charges of obstructing official duties. They are accused of forming a human barrier with supporters of former President Yoon in front of the presidential residence on January 15, 2025, thereby hindering the execution of an arrest warrant against Yoon by the CIO and the police.
The special prosecutor's task force explained that the charges were confirmed by compiling testimonies from several officials who participated in the execution of the arrest warrant, including CIO prosecutors, as well as transcripts of abusive language verified in 94 gigabytes of recorded evidence from the scene.
