AJU IB Investment Achieves Record Earnings on Higher Performance Fees and SpaceX Gains
Venture capital firm AJU IB Investment demonstrated overwhelming earning power, posting an operating profit of 8.1 billion won in the first quarter of this year, followed by an operating profit of 38.1 billion won in the second quarter.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System (DART) on August 14, AJU IB Investment recorded an operating profit of 46.2 billion won in the first half of 2026, achieving its largest-ever performance.
This result was driven by an increase in performance fees due to the excellent performance of its funds, as well as the recognition of valuation gains from SpaceX investments. Despite facing dual challenges such as the weak KOSDAQ index and subdued investor sentiment, the company generated stable profits thanks to IPOs of portfolio companies and the rising equity value of quality assets.
AJU IB Investment has also been actively forming new funds to scale up its assets under management (AUM). In March, it held a second closing for the 'AJU Good No.4 PEF', initially closed in December last year, increasing it to 316 billion won. The firm also newly established project funds such as the 'AJU E-Bridge Fund' (146.4 billion won). In addition, having been selected as the first general partner (GP) for the National Growth Fund, AJU IB Investment is currently working on forming the 'AJU Good Super-Gap Scale-up 2.0 Fund', targeting a hard cap of 200 billion won. As a result, as of the first half of this year, its AUM has risen to approximately 2.5 trillion won.
Several portfolio companies successfully went public as well. Three companies, Kanaph Therapeutics (a developer of cancer and ophthalmic disease treatments), IMBiologics (a company specializing in antibody drugs), and Mezu (a provider of mobile remote patient monitoring solutions), achieved successful IPOs in the first half of the year.
The IPO pipeline remains robust for the second half of 2026. Last month, the digital healthcare platform Lemon Healthcare and, on August 12, the fashion logistics platform Delicious went public. Other companies preparing for IPOs include Davio (a spatial AI company currently undergoing preliminary review), PGT (a specialty fine chemicals firm), and MBD (an organoid-based precision medicine company). Nexi, an immuno-oncology company, is also planning to file for a preliminary IPO review in the second half. With more than 10 portfolio companies expected to pursue IPOs just in the latter half of the year, visibility on investment recoveries is set to strengthen further.
