Mona Yongpyong Posts 81.7 Billion Won in First-Half Revenue, Maintains Operating Profit Despite Sales Gap
Mona Yongpyong, a four-season premium resort, maintained an operating profit in the first half of the year despite a gap in new sales and development projects. The company aims to improve its performance in the second half by enhancing its Gold Season operations, attracting more foreign tourists, and resuming the second phase of the Olympic Village sales project.
On August 14, Mona Yongpyong announced that its consolidated revenue for the first half of this year was 81.7 billion won, with an operating profit of 1.2 billion won.
While revenue from development and sales projects was reflected in the first half of last year, recognition of revenue from new sales projects was limited this year, resulting in decreases in both revenue and operating profit compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, the company maintained an operating profit despite the absence of new sales, continuing its stable profit base from resort operations.
The net loss for the first half was 3.3 billion won. In the second quarter, in addition to the seasonal nature of the resort business, recurring expenses such as property tax were heavily reflected, leading to a temporary decline in profitability.
Mona Yongpyong is aiming for a turnaround in the second half of the year during the Gold Season. The resort plans to strengthen its guest attraction capabilities by expanding its four-season tourism content and wellness programs based on Balwangsan Mountain. At the same time, it will enhance its profitability-focused operations by systematically managing the sales prices of rooms and major products.
The resort is also accelerating efforts to attract foreign tourists. It is diversifying overseas demand by expanding its marketing base beyond the Greater China region, including Taiwan and China, to Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Americas. The company plans to secure both group and individual tourist demand through strengthened collaboration with local travel agencies as well as by utilizing global online travel platforms and direct foreign-language sales channels.
Mona Yongpyong is also resuming its sales and development projects. The company is proceeding with procedures targeting the launch of the second phase of the Olympic Village project in the second half of this year. Once the new sales project is fully underway, the company expects to gradually resolve the gap in sales revenue that constrained its first-half performance.
